Lift
A moment of weightlessness
Role: Experience Designer + Install team
Sculptural Elements: 2.5D Cranes
Each crane is precision-cut from aluminum and folded along three clean brake lines, echoing the elegance of traditional origami. The result is a lightweight yet durable form with a smooth powder-coated finish. The raised Capital One logo integrates the brand and anchors the composition.
The flock of birds appears to move in and out of the wall, creating a dynamic sense of motion and spatial depth. To ensure safety, all 3D sculptural elements are mounted above a 6-foot datum, keeping them clear of pedestrian pathways. Below this line, the birds transition into the painted 2D mural, preserving the illusion of depth while maintaining a flush, low-profile surface.
Bringing the Lift to life…
Objectives
Capital One commissioned us to design and install a site specific artwork at their Chicago office at 77 West Wacker Dr. with the theme The Sky’s the Limit.
“Viewers encounter a flock of white origami cranes—symbols of hope and transformation—that rise from the wall, sweep overhead, and dissolve into a faceted cloudscape. As people pass, shadows ripple and light scatters like a shifting sky. The piece invites both pause and gathering—an understated gesture of ascent that lifts our gaze, and our spirits, skyward.”
Tone & Vibe
A Shareable Experience - Cranes’ shadows, cast by existing wall-grazing lights, shift with every passerby—bringing the mural to life. Fully occupying a wall, the architecture frames the artwork, transforming it into a portal for shared journeys of aspiration, uplift, and forward motion. This large-scale immersive presence redefines the corridor, inviting moments of reflection and connection, from spontaneous selfies to team photos.
